Saturday, August 1, 2026: Begin Distributing Fall Semester payments for Classes of 2025 (3rd payment) and 2026 (1st payment)
Note: Scholars are expected to complete at least 12 credit hours per term and maintain a minimum C average per term, verified through unofficial transcripts sent from their college email. Otherwise, scholars are given a grace period to improve college success considering their special circumstances. A payment may be deferred a term, based on a solution with supports and encouragement in place. Scholars still qualify to receive $1,500 total, but over four semesters instead of three. If needed, we can personally advise scholars for college and career goals and help seek counselors, mentors, and additional resources.

Sunday, March 8: Women's History Sunday Hosted by ASAP (March 8 is International Women's Day)
Special Guest Speaker Marilyn Luper Hildreth was a ten-year old in Oklahoma City in the late 50's. She knew African Americans lived in a designated part of town, the zoo was only open to them one day a week, and when they went to a restaurant, African Americans were forced to stand up or eat out of a brown paper sack. Marilyn came up with the idea for a way forward. She suggested a peaceful protest at Kats Drug Store. After a group vote of the NAACP Youth Council, Marilyn, her mom, and 12 other kids headed down to Katz on the evening of August 19, 1958. She remembers being frightened as the group walked up to the lunch counter and asked for service. When they were denied, they just continued to occupy the stools at the counter, pulling out their schoolbooks to read. The group stayed until close that first night, then came back the next day, and again for a third day. Katz Drug Store opened its doors to people and also at other stores they owned nationwide. But that was only the beginning. Hildreth says every Saturday when they weren’t in school, the kids would go sit in different stores and restaurants, fighting for more freedom. They helped desegregate dozens of restaurants and public spaces there. Then in the 1960s, the movement spread nationwide. As an adult, Marilyn devoted a career to being an insurance agent and active community mentor in the Oklahoma City area.
